The Whispered Words of Sunset
The silhouettes of rustling trees
Dancing softly in the breeze
A bird that rushes past the sky
Slows down its wingbeats
Still, it flies
As the sky explodes in paint
And clouds unfurl
I catch my breath and there it waits
And I lose all words to say how beautiful
This moment is
Though everything is much the same
It’s not at all
The whole world’s changed
The whole world has stopped time
In its tracks
To show me this today
The sunset sets
The clouds go dark
But rooted deeply in my heart
The colours never fade
