Little White Lies

Little white lies
Piling up like snow
A sprinkle here
A tidbit there
No harm
As light and easy as hello

Little while lies
Piling up like snow
The flakes have gotten hard to count
As more fall down
Some fast and others slow

Little white lies
Piling up like snow
A sunny day will melt the white
The snow will turn to sleet
And once again the solid ground
Is back beneath your feet

Little white lies
Piling up like snow
A blizzard came
The snowpiles grew
The blizzard came again
But this time—no.
You can’t walk through it
Harder to explain

Little white lies
Piled up like snow
Since when have they become a mountain?
Is there anything left below?
